Audley Press Publishes First Book

Portland, OR. June 12, 2019: Today, Audley Press, a premier digital publishing house for emerging voices in literature and non-fiction writing, announced the publication of A Life Veiled: Poems of Love, Loss, and Madness. This collection of poems unleashes a poet’s primal scream of words that echoes from the trauma and abuse he suffered as a child through a painful and devastating divorce – all the while living with the voices and madness of bipolar depression and mania.

“This collection is dark, raw, and painful,” says Audley Press Publisher and President, David Audley. “But in the end, it leaves a glimmer of hope for redemption, forgiveness, and maybe even love.” The work is composed of over 50 original, previously unpublished poems that yarn a tale of tragedy and courage, defeat and promise, but that speaks to ultimate optimism of survival.

This is the first work published by Audley Press. The press was founded in the spring of 2019 after its founder seized an opportunity to counter the myopic landscape of modern publishing and provide a digital platform for new, distinctive voices. The press has an additional three works under contract that are due to be published in the fall and winter of 2019.

“We are proud to publish this work,” continues Audley. “These words and poems are a powerful testament to the strength of sexual abuse survivors. Poems like these, though difficult to read, are critical in giving agency to the survivor and a literary canvas for the #MeToo movement.”

A Life Veiled is available for purchase at the Kindle Store.
